Since I'm dreaming crochet lately, this newsletter is dedicated to crochet and filled with lots of different projects you can make.
Also, this Sunday at midnight is the deadline for Maker Faire proposals for our Bay Area event, May 19-20 in San Mateo, Calif. We're looking for you to show off your craft project, so enter your proposal here!

Little Fried Egg Amigurumi Pattern
Look at this cute little fried egg you can make! Anapaulaoli has posted up the free amigurumi pattern in her Esty store. Don't let the price tag full you! The full pattern is listed there on the page. Link.
Japanese Crochet Kits
Look how cute this crochet house is! The Purl Bee has links up to their store where you can purchase these Japanese crochet kits. Choose from this cute house, a smiling mouse, or flower bouquet. Link.
Ripple Along
OK, anyone else find themselves enticed by the recent sightings in the craft blog world of beautifully crocheted ripple blankets? For me, it started with Alicia's blanket, who in turn was inspired by Jane's Yarnstorm ripple. Now crochet gal Kim Werker of Crochet Me has started a Ripple Along. I can't stop staring at all the fun yarn and the cool ripple patterns. Read the backstory and keep up with the process, or join in on the fun! Link.
Granny Along
Kim Werker says, "What's to be done with all the leftovers from the ripple-along? Another back-to-basics crochet project: granny squares! Won't you join in?" I'm in! Now to make my first granny square... [ via ] Link.
Crochet VHS Tape Purse
Cindy shares with us her tutorial for this crochet round motif purse that uses old VHS tape! Colored plastic bags were used to create the pink and grey motif. A recycle project taken to new heights! Link.
Galvanic Mag - Crochet Bobble Headband
Our friend Robyn of Crochet by Faye sends us this link to check out the first edition of Galvanic Mag, created by Chloe Nightingale, a crochet designer, chef, writer, and singer. Don't miss the free crochet pattern to make the bobble headband! Link.
CRAFT Pattern Podcast: Crystal Lace Bolero by Robyn Chachula
This cute crochet Crystal Lace Bolero is brought to us by Robyn Chachula of Crochet by Faye. Robyn's inspiration for this design was sparked by her best friend's move to Phoenix so she needed an idea for a hot weather crochet piece. The bolero is beautiful but also light and portable. The main motif is granny squares that can be easily joined together to shape the bolero. A perfect piece to make now for spring and summer!
You can also catch up with Robyn and the cool world of crochet on her fantastic blog.

Bazaar Bizarre at the Maker Faire - Vendor Applications are Open!
Hey Crafters! The application for vendors is now open for Bazaar Bizarre at the Maker Faire!
Pictured above are Ted and Angie of Poketo at last spring's Maker Faire.
From Bazaar Bizarre:
Applications are being accepted from 3/7/07 to 3/25/07. You will be notified as to whether or not you are accepted by 3/30/07.The Bazaar Bizarre is a juried craft fair that selects crafters based on various elements like individuality, DIY-sensibility, quality, and so on. When the application period ends, we look at all of the applications as a whole and try to make sure that there's a balance of a wide variety of styles and types of art/crafts. We expect that we will get more vendor applications than there are slots, so the more information you provide in your application, the more we'll have to go on when making the decision.
Visit the Bazaar Bizarre website for more information and to apply. - Link.
Maker Faire Proposals - Deadline this Sunday, March 18th at Midnight
Hi Crafters! We've been getting some amazing proposals for the Maker Faire, but we would like to hear from you! Just a reminder that our extended deadline for Maker Faire Bay Area proposals ends this Sunday, March 18th at midnight PST.
Last year, we did accept a bunch of proposals up until the week before the Faire because it's hard to say no to cool projects. However, accepting late proposals means that the programs and maps for attendees weren't as helpful as they could be. So, to demonstrate that we learned something from having done this once, we really want to give ourselves (and you) the time to do it right. Thanks for your help.
Here are some ideas for topics that we're looking for:
- Halloween projects (props, costumes, interactive displays, music)
- Recycled things
- Ham radios
- Weather stations
- Cars (hot rods, custom vans, especially with a tech flavor)
- Airplanes and aeronautics (models, etc.)
- History of science & engineering
- Biology/biotech
- Chemistry
- Cool RC toys & mods
- Video games (retro, arcade, and more)
- Trains
- Looms (historical or unusual)
- Sewing demonstrations
- Kites
- Boats
- Old farm or garden equipment (tractors, etc.)
- Temporary structures (tents, domes, etc.)
- Unusual tools or machines
- How to fix things or take them apart (vacuums, clocks, washing machines, etc.)
Visit our Maker Faire website for more information and our online application. - Link.
