CRAFT Newsletter for May 1, 2009
May is finally here and I know I'm looking forward to the onset of warmer weather. I hope you've enjoyed our Crafting with Nature projects last month. This month is very busy for us here with two new themes kicking off on Craftzine.com and Maker Faire Bay Area 2009 right around the corner!
Maker Faire, May 30-31

Maker Faire Bay Area 2009 has lots in store for you as a crafter. For one, the CRAFT area will be buzzin' with hourly demos from your favorite crafters, such as Cathy Callahan, Susan Beal, Brookelynn Morris, and more! Bonnie Burton from StarWars.com will be on hand in the afternoon on both Saturday and Sunday to make Star Wars finger and sock puppets with the kids. Crafty Chica's Kathy Cano Murillo will be around spreading her glittery cheer at the Duncan Crafts booth. And you can get your indie shopping on at Bazaar Bizarre. Don't wait in line at the Faire when you can buy your tickets online today!

Wardrobe Refresh is our crafty fashion theme for the month of May. Our how-to projects feature ways you can look fashionable this season without breaking the bank. Learn how to refashion your clothing, embellish it, and make your own jewelry. Pictured clockwise is Dolin O'Shea's crochet-embellished refashioned tank, Vickie Howell's Crochet Tarina O-Ring Necklace (this afternoon's project), and Nancy Minsky's plastic container jewelry. Stay tuned on Craftzine.com for these new, original projects by us and your favorite crafters.
CRAFT Summer Camp

Wondering what to do with the kiddos when they are out of school this June? Our CRAFT Summer Camp theme will run throughout the summer from May 15th to August 15th. We will be featuring lots of kid's craft projects to keep your little ones busy, happy, and creative. Look for special projects each week from Austin's Future Craft Collective, where Bernadette and Kathie will include projects centered on building sustainable family connection through sustainable crafting.
In addition to CRAFT on Twitter, follow us now at craft_tips! You'll get daily crafting tips such as "Keep a cup or small bowl next to you while you are doing embroidery or needlework for catching your snips of thread." Handy, isn't it? We like to think so. And if you have a tip to share, reply or direct message us, and we'll give you props!
We also have a few Mother's Day projects, Jenny Hart's "Crafting a Business" column, and a refashion project from Diana Eng!
Enjoy the sun, and I'll be back next month with a Maker Faire recap and more craft news for ya. Keep checking in with us daily at Craftzine.com!
