Altered Messenger Bag

messbag.jpg

When you're a Craftzine blogger, you run across handmade inspiration when you least expect it. This morning I got my hair cut and colored, and my stylist Gina happened to pull out this sweet messenger bag she'd altered. I fell in love instantly, of course! Turns out it had an ugly graphic on the front, so she took a piece of vintage tablecloth and affixed it to the front flap with embroidery floss, then topped the whole thing off with a coordinating cherry applique. Much better! Link.

This is brilliant, I'm always looking at the linens at the antique store (they're one of the few things I can afford), wondering what can be done with them. Now I know...I can cover up ugly logos!

I did something similar with one of my favourite lunch bag too. You can see it here
