Craftland Recap

We had a great time last week at Craftland in Providence, RI. The great thing about this craft fair is that it lasts all month until Dec 23rd. If only there could be a craft store like this year round. Diana Eng and I arrived at 4:30pm into the large retail space downtown that's almost complete in construction. (You can get a sense for the space from their opening night video on the web site.) It was fun to meet everyone who braved the cold night to come see us and Leah Kramer, but most of all it was great to talk crafts (as well as Project Runway) with everyone. Thanks so much to Deb Dormody, one of the founders of Craftland for inviting us. Deb's got an awesome craft biz herself called if'n books.
We got a chance to really hang out with our old favorite CRAFT peeps and made some new ones along the way: A shout out to Heather Toupin of heatherjeany.etsy.com, Teresa Levy of sewingstars.com, Jenine Bressner of jenine.net, and the fab Leah Kramer of Crafster.org, Bazaar Bizarre, and Magpie. Pictured here is Deb and Jenine. You can read the interview I did with Jenine and her glass bead work on the MAKE Blog from earlier this spring.
Here's the CRAFT table where Diana and I both did demos and signed copies of CRAFT. Diana showed us the paper crumpling technique of Vincent Floderer and I did the vintage tie to lightswitch plate project from CRAFT vol 1. Some crafters came all the way from Boston because they were Project Runway fans. Thanks gals!
You still have time to check out Craftland from now through Dec 23rd!
