Stitch Austin recap
Sherry Huss, our CRAFT Marketing and Events Director got a chance last weekend to head down to Austin for Stitch, a cool urban craft event and fashion show. Sherry also took lots of great photos of the event!
Stitch happens each fall in Austin and is put on by (left to right) Karly Hand (Identity Crisis Clothing), Jennifer Perkins (Naughty Secretary Club/ host of DIY's Craft Lab), Tina Sparkles (Sparkle Craft), and Jesse Kelly Landes (Amet and Sasha) . These four fabulous ladies are not only Austin Craft Mafia members they also co-host the show Stylelicious on the DIY Network.
Jennifer Perkins gave us her recap of the awesome event:
"We were super duper pleased with how everything turned out. From starting 4 years ago in a coffee shop to this year selling out the Austin Music Hall with somewhere around 2,500 people, that is not to shabby! This year we had 20 designers on the runway and 70 craft bazaar vendors. We had vendors like partybots.org come in from Seattle and A Rare Bird Designs from Florida, my point being of course there are a lot of Austin based vendors like the Austin Craft Mafia, but there are people from all over the country that participate. Some other special things about this year: the amazing Faythe Levine (Art Vs. Craft & Paper Boat Boutique and Gallery) came down from Milwaukee to film the event for the Indie Craft Documentary. My good friend collage artist Traci Bautista paired up with Duncan (the company that makes Tulip paint and Aileen's Tacky Glue) to have a make and take booth. People got to paint their own purses and shirts. Brooklyn based 31 Corn Lane gave us 400 amazing tote bags to give away as goodie bags."
